We specialize in providing thorough and prompt patient care with an emphasis on wellness and prevention. We see patients from age 6 and up.  Our practice is unique because we focus on treating the entire individual, not just the illness. We accomplish this by cultivating a relationship with each patient. We are accepting new patients and strive to provide services and hours that meet your needs.

PATIENT CENTERED MEDICAL HOME 

In our on-going efforts to remain patient focused we are proud to announce that the Family Wellness Clinic has been certified as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home practice. A Patient-Centered Medical Home is a team-based model of care led by a personal physician who provides continuous and coordinated care throughout a patient's lifetime to maximize health outcomes. The PCMH practice is responsible for providing for all of a patient’s health care needs or appropriately arranging care with other qualified professionals. This includes the provision of preventive services, treatment of acute and chronic illness, and assistance with end-of-life issues. It is a model of practice in which a team of health professionals, coordinated by a personal physician, works collaboratively to provide high levels of care, access and communication, care coordination and integration, and care quality and safety.

ADVANCED LIPID TESTING 

More than half the patients admitted in a hospital for an acute coronary event or a cerebrovascular event have normal or even low cholesterol levels. That is why we believe that with our advanced lipid testing which we do through health diagnostics laboratory and out CIMT testing (of the carotid arteries), we can detect and prevent many of these events before they actually manifest. We strive to continually augment our knowledge and implement what we learn in our office to help treat and prevent some of the biggest killers in our country like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. 

ALLERGY CLINIC

Eastern North Carolina is blessed with natural beauty, however this lends itself to be one of the worst places to live for allergy suffers. "If you don't have allergies, you will after you move to North Carolina" - is often quoted and true. We have teamed up with United Allergy Lab, one of the biggest allergy laboratories in the nation to bring in allergy testing right here in our office. It is a painless test that takes about 10-15 minutes and we look for the most common environmental allergens. Allergies cause daily symptoms in some people like headaches, sinus problems and the side effects of allergy medications are sometimes difficult to tolerate. Also, in some people, these medications do not completely take away their allergy symptoms. After your allergy test, our allergy technician will be able to make immunotherapy specifically designed for you, that you learn to administer to yourself. It is about 80% effective and people usually see a difference in a few months. WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CLINIC

We know that reaching and maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for your well-being and health. We have a nutritionist that works with our HDL laboratory and our patients to provide education in eating what works best for them keeping in mind their lifestyle, test results and genetics. We also work with our patients to come up with a personalized weight management system that is tuned to their lifestyle and schedule, whether it is a weekly visit or one every 3 months. We also use a program called "Take Shape for Life" which is the same weight management program that is used at Johns Hopkins University. Whether you want to lose 10lbs or a 100lbs, it works. It has the potential to help you lose weight in the same way and intensity as a bariatric surgery if done correctly. We want to work with our patients to get them to their optimal health. We have seen amazing results with this program. It really does work.
